More on dangerous routes in China October 26, 2007

I’ve blogged both the road and the hiking trail covered in this article before, but there’s a lot more information and photographs in this piece. I only wish it had more about the village that the road leads to, but Google can help there. Whilst I would be prepared to travel up that road, preferably walking or driving myself though, I would not be at all happy if I had to try hiking up the South Peak on the Mt Huashan Hiking Trail. The carved steps are ludicrously steep, and then you get to cross a sheer cliff on some old planks and chains – not my cup of tea as I suffer from vertigo.
