George P Blundell – an imaginary success October 19, 2007
Posted by Al in : bizarre, people , trackbackThere are a lot of strange people in this world, and some of those become successful; however, very few people have achieved so much in their lives as George P Blundell, which is made all the more remarkable by him being entirely fictitious. Created as a college prank in 1927, by someone willing to do twice as much work to enable George to pass all his exams, he has grown into a legend on the Georgia Tech campus where he began his existence; and he has since found love, served in World War 2, been a company director, a musician and a politician.
Wikipedia has an article all about George P Blundell, and more worryingly even has an entire category for Non-Existent People. I find it amazing that someone who never existed can continue to keep cropping up all over the place, but I would imagine that the ever tightening surveillance today’s Big Brother governments are forcing on us will slowly bring an end to such figments of popular imagination.
