Clearest ocean waters on Earth July 8, 2007
Posted by Al in : interesting , trackbackI don’t know if it’s because I’m currently reading a biography of Capt James Cook that I find this story more interesting than normal, but I was amazed to find out that the cleanest waters on Earth are in the middle of the South Pacific ocean. The Pacific is huge, and so relatively unpolluted, however I still wouldn’t expect to find such clear waters here. The water is so clear that it is violet rather blue, and that’s something I’d love to see if I ever get the chance. I can spend hours watching the sea, and frequently did when I was a kid. There’s nothing else on Earth that can compare to the immensity and power of the ocean, and I’ve seen many colours of ocean water, from steely grey, through various blues to red and white, but I’ve never seen violet water before.
