Plans to tunnel between Siberia and Alaska April 19, 2007
Posted by Al in : travel , trackbackThe channel tunnel, linking the UK and France, is a long tunnel. Almost 30 miles long, in fact. However, plans are afoot to create a tunnel more than twice as long and running between Siberia and Alaska. This tunnel would allow traffic, but would also carry oil pipelines to allow the rich oilfields of Siberia to feed the US market. Given the USA’s previous distrust and dislike of Russia, I’m wondering how these plans would be received in America. But since other sources of oil are starting to dwindle, or become too expensive, this may become a viable concern.
