Richard Stipl – a strange view of humanity March 22, 2007

I’m not sure what to make of Richard Stipl’s art. He portrays people in a very strange, unflattering, almost cruel way. This seems to match some of the compositions he has as well – both Futile and Bloc Sabbath have a disturbing quality. Disturbing but not frightening, probably due to the ruthlessly honest portrayal of the naked human form. No sculpted abs, or ripped pec’s for Mr Stipl – instead you get feeble and flaccid individuals. It’s art that stands out though.
