China harvesting organs from living opposition members March 21, 2007
Posted by Al in : politics , trackbackWhilst I thoroughly enjoyed my times in Hong Kong, and would urge anyone to visit the place, I’m not sure I could currently proffer the same recommendation to visit China itself – particularly if you were the type of person who just had to speak out. Because if you were to speak out, and to become a member of the opposition party, then you may find yourself locked up and then cut up to provide organ transplants to the wealthy. I know that China is becoming more liberal almost by the hour these days, but they still have quite a way to go: it’s one thing teaching the public in Beijing how to queue like the rest of the world, it’s another to stop treating people who reject your ideas as subhuman. I still think that China may be the safest place to live in the next couple of years, however only if you are willing to accept the regime and don’t fancy any kind of dissident activities.
