BBC still leads the field December 22, 2006

The BBC has decided to partner with Azureus to provide their programs over the Internet. Azureus are offering a HD version of video using their Zudeo program, which also has good DRM. As far as I am aware this is the first time the BBC have not restricted their programs to the UK, and I am a little bit miffed. I rather agreed with that restriction as I pay my license fee to the BBC, whereas someone in the US will not have contributed at all towards the cost of making something as good as Top Gear or Planet Earth. Still, let’s see what happens first before getting all crotchety – maybe they will decide that people outside the UK will have to pay.
