The longest drive ever November 21, 2006
Posted by Al in : bizarre, space , trackbackOn his visit to the International Space Station, Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Tyurin will be sponsored to hit a golf ball into space during a space walk. The idea was put forward a while ago but NASA have spent ages trying to calculate whether there is a danger of the gold ball doing one complete orbit and the colliding back with the Space Station again. They have finally deemed it safe, and so Element 21 will get footage of their club being used in space for a commercial. The sum they have paid for this has not been disclosed, but they may make it back as they are betting that the ball will orbit for 3 years – NASA say 3 days. I’m guessing that he will mis-hit it and it will cause some damage somewhere sooner than expected.
