Polygamy doesn’t mean lots of sex November 21, 2006

Except for the poor man in the relationship, who would probably be glad of a rest every now and then. This is an interesting article on life as a “sisterwife” – which is not some form of inbreeding, even though she comes from Mississippi, but is the term given to the extra wives in this polygamous sect. I find it strange that you can have fundamentalist Christians in the south of America having a go at every other religion around the world, yet they accept that polygamy happens in their own backyard. I don’t have a problem with polygamy, as long as it is voluntary. So, although this article is written from one of the wives’ point of view, my sympathy goes out to the husband. Towards the end of the article she is complaining that she will get even less action as another two wives enter into the marriage, but she also points out that this is not at the request of her, her “sisterwives” or her husband, but is rather forced upon them by the religion they are part of. Once again we reach the stage where religion dictates life choices which the practitioners may not be comfortable with, however once again they have the choice of which religion, if any, they follow. All I can say is that I don’t think I could manage to keep four women happy for any length of time, let alone six! Just keeping one woman happy is enough of a challenge for me.
