You can’t blame the police for this really November 11, 2006

Police in North Platte, Nebraska arrested a young girl in connection with a robbery. She had been positively identified from a photograph that a witness had confirmed. After 1 week in jail she was about to go to trial when the police received an anonymous tip-off to say that the girl they wanted was still loose, and where they could arrest her. The police promptly did so and then realised that they had held the wrong girl for the last week. Now normally you’d accuse the police of gross incompetence, but in this case I think they should be let off. Have a look at the pictures in this story and then decide whether they should take any blame.
