Sketchbook from WWI October 13, 2006
Posted by Al in : art, fighting , trackbackThis probably doesn’t mean much to most readers, but I still manage to realise that I am one of the only generation on Earth who has never had to be involved in some kind of war. National Service, in the UK, only finished just before I was born, the Falklands War did not require any extra bodies, and I am now too old to be of any use to our military. This might be a good thing considering the way the current “engagements” overseas are currently going.
So when you get a chance to see what it was like to have to serve in what was, probably, the worst war in history then it is worth having a look. There are a lot of pictures on this site, and I still count myself lucky that I wasn’t around then.
