Scientology – scary cult September 8, 2006

Since I’ve recently mentioned how scary bible-belt Christianity is in the southern USA I thought I ought to mention an even scarier religion – Scientology. L.Ron Hubbard was an abysmal author, but somehow he created this absolutely crazy religious cult which has grown into something quite powerful, and very scary. This is not really surprising considering how many Americans believe they have been abducted by aliens, but the rest of the world have a hard job understanding what’s going on. Anyway watch this short presentation to see quite how scary Scientology really is.

You can find out more about Scientology from this gentleman’s site – he was once a member of the church, but has now left and wants to explain to the world what the cult is actually all about. And then this post is quite funny as well – the comments are pretty crap up until the end where they become quite coherent.

My gripe with Scientology? Well any other religion concentrates on giving to it’s members, not taking. And if a member contributes to the religion then they give according to their means. I don’t know of any other church where it’s members end up in debt after apying for the church’s services. To me this suggests that someone is living the good life somewhere.
