Star Wars based on Dune? Well I never! August 8, 2006

This is quite a well written article on the novel Dune and how it influenced Science Fiction, and in particular Star Wars. It has to be said there are rather a lot of conincidences with both stories, and in such a case it is worth noting that Dune was written 10 years before Star Wars came out. Overall I rather liked this piece, there is some good biographical information on Frank Herbert and some good links to other influences on both Dune and Star Wars. However some of these links are starting to get a little bit removed from the main topic, but then again where do you draw the line as the past definitely influences the future. The main site looks quite intreseting and I think I’ll spend some time here for a browse.
