Neal Stephenson: brilliant writer, dull speaker July 12, 2008

Sorry, Neal, if you read this, but I was really interested to hear your views on SF as a literary genre, because I predominantly read SF and I have read all your novels and enjoyed every one. However, I started to listen to your seminar and lost interest around the time you started to compare the way Westerns became mainstream to the way SF might also go – at least I think that’s where you were going with the 3:10 To Yuma allegory. I will try to watch/listen again – but in future it might be worth you writing the seminar and then getting someone else to deliver it. Once again – sorry.
