Why China’s economic growth must slow down August 5, 2007
Posted by Al in : interesting, politics , trackbackHere’s a fascinating interview with China’s Deputy Minister of the Environment, where he stands up and says that China is achieving it’s current growth at the expense of the country, it’s resources, and the health of it’s population. It’s scary to see that lung cancer is now the most common cause of death in Beijing, and that 5 of the 10 most polluted cities in the world are Chinese. However, it’s also refreshing to see a government minister admitting to these faults publicly, and it’s good to see that at least someone in the Chinese government is taking environmental concerns seriously. We’ll just have to wait to see whether these concerns will be acted upon, before China kills itself for capitalism.
