Low oxygen atmospheres for data centres March 21, 2007

A brief geeky interlude. Data centre’s are starting to move towards reduced oxygen atmospheres to prevent fire risk. Reducing oxygen in the data centre atmosphere to around 15% means that staff can still work, just, but the risk of fire is greatly reduced. A simple, and easy to implment idea that should have far reaching effects on data stability and reliablility as well – however I don’t know if I’d want to spend too much time inside such a facility if I worked there.
