The hidden story of Tetris January 29, 2007

Tetris is one of my favourite games ever. I now have it on my phone and find myself playing it whenever there is any free time to do so, and sometimes even when there is no spare time. It is incredibly addictive, and yet so very, very simple. However it’s hard to believe that there is such a convoluted history to how the game was born and spread from Russia to the rest of the world. It’s even harder to believe that it may have helped Nintendo become the dominant force in the video game arena, and may also have contributed to the decline of Atari. It’s also possible that it may have helped end Robert Maxwell’s corporation, as Atari were about to start suing them for damages, and the corporation was already secretly bankrupt. Although this video is an hour long I found it fascinating and well worth a view.
