The largest, heaviest and oldest organism January 24, 2007

Although the absolute veracity of this claim is slightly clouded in doubt, the quivering Aspen colony called Pando is probably the largest, heaviest and oldest organism currently living on this planet. This is interesting in itself, but what I really like about finding something like this in the Wikipedia is all the other links that come of this one article. After just a brief digression I learned that the Andean Condor, something I previously considered a feared bird of prey, is a scavenger and is a member of the stork family. I find it hard to fear members of the stork family. Then a few clicks later I am looking at the Giant Isopod and marveling that woodlice can grow so big, and live at such extreme depths as well. This is what I love about the Internet – keep clicking the links and discover something totally new.
