Wonderfully strange Russian architecture December 7, 2006
Posted by Al in : bizarre, design , trackbackThese buildings are fantastic – true concrete designs from the ’60’s and ’70’s. The first 3 are the ones that really stand out for me: the “Palace of the Marriage” is like some fairy tale castle dragged, kicking and screaming, into the mid-twentieth century; the “State Department of Traffic” building looks as though it could cause it’s own, internal traffic jam; whilst the “Hotel Friendship” is a very clever way of ensuring all the rooms have a view of the beach. If I ever visit the Ukraine then that’s the hotel for me.
