Posted by Al in : design,interesting , trackbackIn the ’20’s skyscrapers were still news and money was still plentiful, to big monopolies at least. So when General Electric built a skyscraper in New York they decided to go all out and build a seriously Art Deco skyscraper. Still standing today, and still looking fabulous the General Electric building is in a completely different league to the glass fronted towers of today. “Bring back workmanship” is what I say. If people could spend as much effort getting things to look as good today then maybe they would be prepared to pay more respect to their world and we would all live a better life.
