Excellent diatribe against George Lucas September 16, 2006

There’s not a lot to say about this piece, other than I agree wholeheartedly. Star Wars was great and has since been reduced to a sniveling morass of miserable, stupid characters with poor plots and terrible dialogue. I still have not watched the third of the new films, nor will I ever do so. Anakin should have been strong and proud, rather than prideful and pathetic. Obi Wan should have been forceful and dominant, rather than a harassed school teacher, and Jar jar Binks should have been terminated before even reaching foetus stage. Although I am a through and through SF fan I will not stoop so low as to be a fan of Star Wars any longer (and that’s coming from someone who had all the comics from 1977 to 1979).
