I like this idea as it is a truly practical application of electric motors into cars, and as I’ve mentioned before this can be a Good Thing if done properly. With an electric motor all the power and torque is available from 0rpm, so there’s no lag at all. This will be why this Mini is so quick to accelerate, and still has a good top speed as well. The only disadvantage is likely to be the price – this kind electrickery doesn’t come cheap. But for a car that will out accelerate a Porsche 911, is environmentally friendly and is cheap to run this may be a worthwhile investment, as now you can be a boy racer with a completely clean conscience.
