The return of the sniper April 16, 2007
Posted by Al in : fighting, politics , trackbackIn the Vietnam War the sniper was an important tactical asset, and could often do more than an entire troop to weaken the enemy. In Iraq the opposition have long been using snipers to target troops on street duty, taking a shot, making a kill, then blending back in with the local populace. Now the UK army is about to increase the number of snipers it currently deploys, and will also be increasing the range they can kill at by using better rifles. Things are about to get that little bit more confrontational, albeit at a greater distance.
