Greg, how much does an OT VIII cost? I'm tempted and have alot of money to throw at anything that arouses my insatiable desires. The idea of 'Advanced Technology' fuels my lust for money, power and control. Let me know please.
With that, a quote from the masterful Tom Cruise -
"Some people, well, if they don't like Scientology, well, then, fuck you. Really. Fuck you. Period."

If believing that aliens have been interfering with humanity's brains for the last few millenia doesn't sound like the worst SF claptrap from the sixties (which is what L. Ron Hubbard used to write) then you probably do need counselling.

I'm sorry, but I don't have time for any religion, and especially not for a half-baked concoction made up by a third rate SF writer. Just face facts - you have approximately 60 years on this earth to enjoy yourself and make other people's life a pleasure. Once you're dead, you are no more. There is no afterlife, there are no aliens, you will not achieve any kind of salvation from spending your money advancing the cause of scientology and taking their courses. You would be better off giving that money to a worthwhile charity, such as Oxfam, or Grrenpeace, or any other charity that is actually doing real, helpful work to help people or animals who have not had the benfits we have all had. Stop kidding yourself.

Hubbard's novels have nothing to do with the Scientology philosophy. Benjamin Franklin wrote fiction too - but his works as a politician and philosopher are not related.

It doesn't cost a lot of money to advance in Scientology. Scientologists generally donate about 10% of one's income, like any other religion. And it doesn't *buy* you salvation, it buys you access to courses and counseling, which (along with your own work on yourself) is what gets you spiritual improvement.

It is easy to dismiss others' philosophies when you don't bother to actually know anything about them.

Sincerely,
Greg
Scientologist and proud of it
