Vista: good for everyone except the consumer January 1, 2007

I thoroughly agree with this article’s stance on Vista: it’s good for Microsoft, PC manufacturers, hardware manufacturers, content providers and electronic manufacturers; but doesn’t really offer much for the consumer, other than the excuse to spend more money on new equipment. As far as I can see, Vista doesn’t offer any great advantage over XP, other than a prettier desktop (providing you have the equivalent of a high-end XP games machine to display it) and some additional security features which benefit the corporations as much as the user. However I will have Vista Premium myself very soon, and then I will let you know what it’s like to use, and whether it’s worth upgrading for.
