Tyranny in China – not too hard to believe November 19, 2006

It’s a shame that things like this are still going on in China, for 2 main reasons. Firstly it would be nice if a communist totalitarian regime like China could outperform the USA on such human rights issues. I’m sure it won’t be long before this is the case, but obviously not yet. Secondly, I have some vague plans to move to China at some point in the future. Although Hong Kong is not really China, as it exists in it’s own Special Administrative Region which gives a lot more freedom. I’m still tempted to try living in Hong Kong, if we can get enough money together to afford a place there, but I’ll always be aware that the government could just take everything away from us at any time. However the same can be said for any country, ask anyone whose home has been bulldozed to allow a bypass, or a reservoir to be built.
